What is a Newbie?
A newbie is a term used to describe anyone new to an area, whether it is a particular forum online or the Internet.
What is Internet Marketing?
Internet marketing is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.
Marketing is defined as the activity and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. The term developed from the original meaning which referred literally to going to market, as in shopping, or going to a market to buy or sell goods or services.
Why did I start the Internet Marketing Newbie Diary?
The Internet Marketing Newbie Diary was born out of an intense frustration.
I am a newcomer to the world of Internet Marketing, having only discovered its potential in the middle of 2008. But Internet Marketing has quickly become a passion in my life and it is my ticket to freedom.
Before that I had certainly used the Internet and even bought stuff online but I was blind to the true potential of a global market. Internet marketing, once mastered can change one’s life. Once you find a successful formula or income stream, you can repeat it many times. It’s the only business I know of that can be started with minimal capital outlay and run on a shoestring budget. Conversely, we’ve all heard stories of successful internet marketers making 7 figure incomes.
With a passive income and the ability to work from home, be your own boss and dictate your own working hours – it is the ultimate lifestyle choice. Not only that but it is a highly transportable business as long as you have your “lapshop” and an internet connection you are in business. Therefore, you can work from almost anywhere in the world.

So with all of this in mind and in search of my dream lifestyle, I began my search for information and that’s when frustration and overwhelm became part of the picture. When I began looking for information I found, as I’m sure you have already, that there is no shortage of information on the Internet.
The whole purpose of the Internet is to provide information!
I found one person after another who was willing to offer me a free gift and tell me that their information was something that I just had to have to become a successful online entrepreneur, all I had to do was give them my email address. Well, you can guess what happened next – right, my inbox was overflowing with “must have” offers, products and tools.
I went to a couple of Internet Marketing seminars and listened to those who were already successful expound on their proven formula. Most of these presentations contained slides showing PayPal accounts or click bank cheques overflowing with cash. I was told that these graphics were offered as proof not to impress me but to impress upon me, that this was a possible dream.
But there was always something extra that you needed to buy at the end of the presentation to get the full story, the $2000 home study course or the next “tell all” weekend seminar (which also had a high price tag). Don’t get me wrong, most of the people I saw on-stage delivered presentations that contained valuable content and their packages always contained added value and heaps of bonuses. The thing that most of these presentations focussed on was the end result – the proof that it could be done and better yet that anyone could do it!
Well I definitely bought into the idea that if they could do it so could I and for that matter so can you but I needed to know more about their struggles and frustrations along the way. I needed to be told that while anyone can succeed in Internet Marketing it’s not easy and effortless. Like anything in life that is worthwhile it takes perseverance, determination and focus. If you are the type of person that is willing to do what most others won’t then you will succeed in this game. But if you are not prepared to spend hours upon hours in front of your computer screen trying to get a website to work, if you’d rather spend your time watching TV or doing other stuff instead then this game isn’t for you.
Internet marketing is not a game for the faint-hearted!
My intention with the Internet Marketing Newbie Diary Blog is to be a resource and a guide to any newbie out there who stumbles upon this site and likes my style enough to return. I also want it to be a record of my journey from Internet Marketing newbie to successful online entrepreneur.
I want to share my learning and experiences with people who have similar passions and if I can teach some valuable lessons along the way and spare someone else the feelings of frustration and overwhelm that I have experienced then that is an absolute bonus.
I intend to start with the things that I wish I would have learned first and show you the programs and tools that I have found to be of greatest benefit to me and the easiest to use. It’s important to emphasize that you don’t have to be a computer geek to do this stuff; you just need basic computer skills. Another important thing to know is that what you don’t want to do you can easily outsource.
It’s the old time VS money equation. If you have more money than time then you pay someone to the do the dirty work and if you have more time than money then you can figure it out for yourself first and once you have made the money you can pay someone else to do the stuff you dislike doing.
The last thing that I want to share with you is about mentoring. Having a mentor is something that I have found to be invaluable because it will shortcut my road to success and when I hit a wall there is always someone to ask.
